A 30-year-old man was on Wednesday arraigned before a Kisumu law court facing charges of assaulting his 65-year-old father.

Winston Kivati, however, denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Esther Wendo for the offence allegedly committed on October 15 in Miwani Kisumu county.

According to the prosecution, the accused attacked his father George Opondo after getting into an argument over land allocation.

Opondo was hospitalised for a week before being discharged where the matter was reported to the police.

The accused was arrested on Monday after investigations were completed.

He was released on a cash bail of Sh10, 000 with a surety of a similar amount pending the hearing on 20th January next year.
