A middle-aged man was on Monday arraigned before Kisumu law for causing public disturbance on Christmas day in Kisumu.

The suspect denied the charges before Kisumu Principal Magistrate Harrison Adika.

According to the prosecution, the accused was arrested at Dunga beach for being drunk and interfering with the peace of other people who were at the venue enjoying Christmas.

It is alleged that the suspect poured drinks on people.

In his defense, the suspect said that he did nothing wrong as he was only having fun.

"Your honour it was Christmas and all I wanted was to have fun. This was my day as I have been working all year long," he told the court.

The court, however, said it was wrong for the suspect to cause public disturbance.

He was fined Sh 50, 000 for the offence or gets a jail term of six months.
