Speaking at the Kapsabet ASK show ground during the installation of Benjamin Arap Kitur as the new Nandi Kaburwo Council of elder’s chairman, Governor Mandago asked the new leadership to convene a meeting to discuss issues affecting the Kalenjin community.

He also affirmed that they will follow the directive and advice made by the elders.

"Now that we have leadership, I request you to call a meeting to settle issues in Kalenjin nation so that we work together, politically and economically," said Mandago.

He reiterated that the Kalenjin leaders will fully support the council of elders.

On his part the Nandi Governor Cleophas Lagat asked the community to respect the Nandi Kaburwo Council of Elders.

Mr Lagat further asked the County Assembly to enact a law that will give the council members privileges and allocate funds to facilitate their operations.

Lagat revealed that his county government has started a process of seeking justice for torture that the Nandi community went through in the hands of the colonialists.
