The Uasin Gishu County government has reiterated its commitment to improving road networks across the country.
Governor Jackson Mandago said improving roads will ensure farmers access markets easily to sell their produce.
Speaking when he inspected Chesunet Bridge in Kesses Constituency on Friday, the governor said that his government has been focusing on improving infrastructure as it is key for the county to achieve its development targets.
Mandago noted that road repair works were ongoing at all wards in the county to ensure they are in good condition.
"We want to ensure that a farmer in the remote area in our county can be able to transport his or her farm produce to the market without much struggle and this is why we are committed to improving our road networks and other related infrastructures like bridges," he said.
The governor further promised that the county government will employ locals to take part in road construction projects to earn a living.
"We know we have unemployment issue and we are trying to address this by ensuring that whenever there is road construction work in a ward, we give first priority to the locals," he said.
