Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa has assured residents of Malindi that enough security will be provided ahead of the March 7 by-election and during the voting process.
He said police officers will be deployed to patrol the area following the Monday campaigns that turned violent when ODM and Jubilee supporters clashed.
Marwa said enough measures have been put in place to ensure elections are not disrupted by anyone.
He said adequate security has been provided in Malindi and other areas.
He said intelligence devices have also been installed to capture any attempt to disrupt elections and security officers will be manning the polling stations.
“We are fully prepared for this by-election. The elections will be done and people will be back to their normal lives so we do not need any kind of disruption,” he said.
“We have enough officers on the ground to ensure security is tight and some of the officers will be patrolling the town. We also have gadgets to capture hate speeches,” he added.
Marwa who was speaking to journalists in his office at Uhuru na Kazi building urged the candidates to preach peace among the electorate and supporters.
On Monday during the Malindi campaigns, supporters of ODM and Jubilee hurled stones at each other, leaving more than eight people injured.
