More males have been called to undergo the voluntary male circumcision taking place at Siriba dispensary in Maseno.
Mr Ken Odhiambo, a clinical officer offering circumcision services at the health facility, said he is calling for more uncircumcised males to turn up for the free surgical procedure.
He added that the exercise is aimed at reducing the risks of HIV/Aids infections by 60 percent, and is also a hygiene improving measure among the males.
“Circumcision reduces the risk of developing a Urinary Tract Infection, like bladder infections,” said the clinician.
While at the facility, Mr Denis Ashono, a parent who had taken his son for a check-up, told this writer that he was glad his 9-year-old underwent the procedure successfully and he was recovering well.
“The procedure is a little painful, but I am happy to have gone through it and I am almost healed now,” said the son.
Mr Odhiambo called for more males to turn-up for the exercise, warning against having unqualified people doing it, as this could result to health complications like excessive bleeding and other post-operative infections.
“This procedure is a delicate one and must be carried out carefully by qualified medics,” said Odhiambo.
