The residents claim that their foodstuffs and other vital commodities have been swept away by the heavy rains which have been experienced in the area since Tuesday.

Norbert Kahumbu, a resident said that his house was swept away by heavy rains thus rendering him and his family homeless.

"I lost almost everything. I don't have any place to call home neither do I have anywhere to go. I kindly appeal to the county government to move fast and help us," he said.

Ronald Njogu on the other hand stated that they were now staring at an epidemic after latrines in the area were flooded a situation he said would lead to the outbreak of waterborne diseases if not dealt with as early as now.

"Our latrines have been submerged by the floods and we fear for our lives because diseases may strike at any time. We appeal to the county government to urgently address this issue," he said.
