The ongoing spatial development planning and digital topographic mapping exercise in Nakuru County will provide decent and quality livelihoods for the residents, Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has said.
Speaking on Thursday during the launch of county spatial planning framework and programme by the Council of Governors, Mbugua said the spatial plan in Nakuru will identify resources in the county, establish their status of exploitation and make proposals on how to utilise resources to improve the welfare residents.
"I'm glad to highlight that the CoG offers the ideal platform for shared support to county governments as we embark on the preparation of our county spatial plans so that we can improve the livelihood of our people," he said.
He added: "As a council, we acknowledge and appreciate the unlimited support we are getting from our development partners, particularly the Swedish embassy and our UN partners, even as we continue to lay the institutional structures to be able to deliver our constitutional mandate successfully. I urge leaders in government, business and communities to come together and cooperate collaborate and consult to ensure that all the goals are achieved, for the sake of our people."
The framework has been developed to support county governments to prepare county spatial plans which is a requirement of the County Governments Act 2012.
