Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has called on the church to team up with government agencies in the fight against illicit brews and second generation liquor.
Speaking in Naivasha at Karagita PCEA Church Sunday during a funds drive, the governor said alcohol consumption is a threat to any society.
He lamented that there is a return of the illegal drinks barely months after a countrywide operation to rid out all illegal drinks after a decree by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Mbugua said alcoholism is a disease that requires both medical and spiritual attention, and asked the church to come out and offer counselling to affected persons.
“I believe that the church can be instrumental in counselling substance abuse victims and we would like to work with all churches in our county to fight the lethal illicit brews since they have wasted so many of our young people,” the county boss said.
