Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has warned police officers who allegedly refused to transport an injured man in Mau-Narok to hospital when a conflict erupted.

Moses Njenga is said to have succumbed to the injuries after he was shot with arrows by unknown thugs at his home in Ndefo area last week.

“We shall make sure the perpetrators are brought to book. I am also happy with the residents who did not take the law into their hands because we have matured both politically and socially. However, I call on the youth from all communities residing in Njoro to work together especially now when elections period is nearing,” Mbugua said during a visit to the area over the weekend.

However, residents reported the laxity of police officers attached to Ndefo police post and AP camp claiming that they did not provide the needed help during the attack.

The officers reportedly refused to transport the injured man to hospital even after residents offered to fuel the vehicle.

Mbugua called for calm and assured the residents of speedy investigations as well as stern action against the responsible officers.

At the same time, Mbugua attributed external conflicts in Njoro and Molo areas to political incitement.

He said petty politics from the neighbouring counties has contributed to a high level of division among the communities living in the area.

The governor blamed some leaders for planning to disrupt peace adding that Nakuru residents have their own style of politics that do not need intervention from outside.
