Masinga Sub-County residents have been warned against negotiating with suspects accused of defiling their children.
Addressing journalists in Masinga Town on Tuesday, Masinga Central MCA Joshua Mwonga condemned the numerous acts of defilement that have been reported in the sub-county.
Mwonga said rapists are criminals and no negotiations whatsoever should be done with a criminal.
He urged parents to take defilement cases seriously by reporting them to the police.
The MCA said the victims are the ones who suffer both physically and psychologically, and thus the need to seek justice for them.
"Once a rapist always a rapist and I do not see any need to negotiate when the culprit should be in the hands of the police,” said Mwonga.
He said negotiating with rapists encouraged the vice since once parents negotiate with a culprit, he is likely to continue with his habit since no action was taken against him.
He warned chiefs against supporting such actions since they deny the victim the justice they deserve.
He lauding Masinga police officers for ensuring rape suspects are brought to book.
