Assistant Dean of Students Bro Francis Kerongo told students on Thursday that the recommendations that were given by the Commission for University Education (CUE) were not what was reported in some sections of the media.

"The commission recommended that our campuses should achieve the required standards in 90 days, or else they will be closed. It did not say the campuses have been closed and that students be relocated in 90 days as reported in media," he said.

The Cabinet Secretary for Education Fred Matiang'i held a meeting with the university's management and appointed a team of experts to advise Kisii University on how it will improve its standards within one year.

Students sought to know why the university was slow to equip campuses with necessary facilities in time.

Bro Francis said the university is currently experiencing financial constraints thus causing delay in supply of learning facilities.

He added that even workers from the university had not received their salaries.

The official however said the varsity's management will engage in talks with the government to increase their annual allocation.
