Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operators on the Kisumu-Busia route have asked the company constructing the road to hasten operations.

SBI Holdings which is responsible for the construction of a section of the road has been asked to accelerate the speed at which they are working.

The section of the road which is slightly over 700 metres has taken six months to complete. Drivers and touts on the route say that they have been diverted to the central business dictrict and other routes which their customers are not familiar with.

"We earlier  picked our customers at the entrance of the Agha Khan Hospital and at Kamas. The construction has made us move to other areas which commuters do not know," said Ali, a driver.

Jerry Otieno, a tout said that they find it difficult to fuel as the new routes have fewer  filling stations.

"There are five filling stations from the main bus terminus to the airport.  The new route has only one which runs out of fuel most of the time," said otieno.

The drivers adde that the company has turned the  drainage system in the area to a poor state as they pile soil on the roadside.

Attempts to get comments from the responsible company personnel were invain.
