Kibra MP Ken Okoth on Monday urged women to form groups so that they can reap more benefits.
Speaking at the county hall at the DC area during a donation of sewing machines to six women groups by a South Korean NGO, Okoth pledged to help women from the constituency to export their products to other nations.
“I believe when you help a woman you are empowering the society. I challenge you women to form more women groups and register them. Have as many ideas as possible so that when you apply for Uwezo Fund, we will be assured that the money will be invested properly and will bring very positive results,” the MP said.
The lawmaker said the groups will also be used as a platform to help other women start businesses.
“These groups should be used by other women to learn about business and be self-employed. You should unite as women and help each other in business. Also, we will look for a foreign market for you to help you export your products and this will translate in more money.”
Okoth said creativity and hard work was the only way to help women survive in the competitive market.
He urged them to always hope for positive results, dream and love what they do so that they can achieve it.
