Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has raised concern over the large number of uncollected national Identification Cards lying at the various registration centres.

In his Tuesday’s post on the constituency’s official Facebook page, Bosire noted a large number of uncollected IDs from various centres, and urged residents to liaise with their respective assistant chiefs for information about their registration status.

“We are having a lot of uncollected ID cards in our offices at Manga, Magombo, Kemera, Gachuba, Rigoma and Keroka offices,” read the post.

"I am working with the local administration to ensure the cards are brought near the applicants homes to ease collection. If you applied for an ID card, kindly get in touch with your assistant chief to confirm if it has been processed. It’s important that the ID cards are collected from offices,” he added.

Regarding the ongoing voter registration, Bosire cautioned residents against being bribed by politicians to change their voting stations unnecessarily, and challenged the affected to change their mentality for the sake of deciding future leaders from their respective areas.

“As a matter of concern, I am discouraging those who are being given a few shillings to register in a different ward, constituency or county. We elect leaders who will serve our areas. It sounds funny for instance that a Kitutu voter is bribed to register in Borabu,” Bosire said.

“Let’s encourage each other to register within our boundaries. For those who want to be paid to register as voters, kindly change your mentality. Voting is your democratic right and when you don’t vote, you will have participated in voting wrong leaders,” he said.

He challenged residents to shun their political differences in the ongoing voter registration exercise and optimise the remaining period as the exercise enters the homestretch.
