Leaders from the larger Mt Kenya region under the Mount Kenya Foundation have stepped up voter registration sensitisation in Nakuru ahead of Tuesday's deadline.
In Nakuru, several trucks have been dispatched for a three-day massive voter sensitisation drive targeting the larger Nakuru County.
The foundation's Nakuru County spokesperson and Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri said the trucks will traverse sections of Nakuru especially in areas that have recorded very few numbers ever since the 30-day long exercise begun three weeks ago.
Ngunjiri called on Nakuru residents to embrace the exercise as the deadline approaches so as not to be locked out.
"All these efforts are geared towards ensuring that all peopel who have attained the voting age get the chance of acquiring a voter's card so as to exercise their democratic right in 2017," he told reporters at a press briefing in Nakuru town on Thursday.
He thanked those who have registered so far, but appealed to them to be real ambassadors by encouraging their friends, family members and neighbours who were yet to register to follow suit.
"Don't wait for us leaders to come and fast track these efforts, you also have a part to play because you are the people on the ground and interact with these non registered people almost on a daily basis. Talk to them and make them understand the importance of registering," he added.
The caravan is expected in Bahati, Nakuru Town East and West constituencies on Friday before shifting gear to Naivasha, Molo, Rongai, Kuresoi respectively for the three days it will be in Nakuru.
