Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has denied reports in some sections of the media that he will be vying for the Presidency seat in the 2017 elections.

Speaking during an interview aired  on Citizen TV on Tuesday night, Mutua termed as false rumours that he is bracing up for the presidency.

Governor Mutua said that he has much to do as a governor and that he has no intentions of vying for the top seat.

“I will not be running for the president seat as some of the media are reporting because I have many unfinished projects in Machakos,” he said.

The Machakos county boss also rubbished claims that he is a Jubilee mole as alleged by some leaders in opposition.

Mutua said that he has a right to work with government and that his ambition is to promote development.

Commenting on the recently launched Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement, Mutua said that it is a vehicle aimed at agitating for development across the country.

Mutua said that most elected leaders had abandoned their responsibilities and were engaging in political rhetoric.

A section of leaders including Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala have scoffed off the move by Governor Alfred Mutua to launch Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement terming it a waste of time and resources.
