Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has rubbished claims that he is using county government’s money to initiate his political projects.

Mutua was responding to allegations that he used money from the public coffers to launch his Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement.

The political outfit was launched in Machakos on December 2, 2016.

Mutua said all the money used was contributed by his friends who support his idea.

"The cash was not county money but was contributed by a group of business people across the country with the movement's interest at heart," Mutua said.

The governor has found himself at loggerheads with his party boss Kalonzo Musyoka and Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama after he launched the movement.

Kalonzo has threatened to send Mutua out of Wiper party accusing him going against the wishes of the party.
