Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua on Wednesday held a meeting with the county assembly speaker Bernard Mung'ata and county MCAs at the county headquarters.
The meeting's aim was to discuss the state of the county and to plan for 2016's service delivery strategy.
The county leaders reached the decision to focus on ensuring that the county's speed in achieving real and tangible development is maintained in 2016.
During the meeting, four MCAs, Magdalene Ndawa (Matungulu West), Benson Mutuku (Kyeleni), Alex kithinzi (Kivaa) and and Alice Nzioka joined the Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement.
The four said they were tired of taking part in politics that did not benefit the people, adding that they had realised the Machakos County government focuses on integrity and service delivery.
Mutua said the move had increased the number of the MCAs supporting the movement to 44 MCAs out of the 59 members of the Machakos County assembly.
"We advised members of parliament and other agents of politics of poverty who instead of helping their constituents during this El Nino period are busy engaging in insults and other traditional poverty-oriented politics to join our movement," said Mutua.
The governor further said that seven more MCAs will defect from the negative and empty rhetoric group to their movement which puts wananchi first.
