The media has been challenged to play their part in the fight against drugs in the country.
The National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse boss John Mututho on Sunday said the Kenyan media had a significant role to play in doing away with irresponsible drug abuse cases which he noted had increased drastically.
He advised that misleading adverts and other pro-drug abuse adverts need not have any airtime or space in the media.
Mututho added that minors had fallen prey to such adverts prompting them to resort to alcoholism at a tender age.
At the same time the Nacada chair warned alcohol manufacturers against using toxic chemicals in their products saying such a practise was putting the safety of consumers in grave danger.
Mututho was speaking in Naivasha town.
