Plans are underway for the construction another waste management processing plant in Nakuru, Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has said.

The plant, expected to be ready in three years time, is as a result of a memorandum of understanding between the county and an international company based in England; MCDaan Ltd.

"They have seen the amount of being generated within the county and want to work with us in turning it into a fortune," he said, after hosting a six-man delegation in his Naivasha office on Wednesday.

Although not overlooking the role of Tropical Power Company, the first biogas processing company in Naivasha that produces 50, 000 tonnes of biogas, Mbugua feels competition will increase capacity.

"Our aim is to triple up the amount of electricity being generated here locally, fertilizer production for our farms and more jobs for our youth," he noted.

Today, more than 14, 000 households are served with electricity produced from our local plant while over 35, 000 tonnes of fertiliser is locally manufacture but Mbugua expressed confidence that another plant will increase the numbers positively.
