The education sector in Nakuru has really grown, an act which has led to universities nd colleges setting up shop in the county.

These universities offer diplomas, undergraduate and, post graduate studies in various fields.

There are both public and private universities offering part time, full time and online learning facilities depending on what best suits the student.

The said growth has left many who live in Nakuru and who want to pursue university education spoilt for choice in the sense that there are over 19 university branches in Nakuru county to date.

Some of the public universities include Egerton, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenyatta University, Laikipia University, University of Nairobi and Moi University. 

Most of these public universities are located in Nakuru town.

The private universities with branches include, Kabarak University, Kenya Methodist University, Mount Kenya University and St Paul’s University.

Some of the public universities found in Nakuru town include Kenyatta University which is located next to Cooperative Bank Nakuru Branch along the Nakuru Eldoret Highway whereas University of Nairobi is located within the premises of the Catholic Diocese of Nakuru offices. 

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology is located next to Nakuru Shell Filling Station along the Nakuru Eldoret Highway. Moi University can be found at the Nakuru Show ground. 

Egerton has its main Campus at Njoro town which is at the outskirts of Nakuru town. However, it also has a branch in Nakuru which is located at the Nakuru Eldoret Highway close to KFA roundabout.

On the other hand, some of the private Universities which have branches in Nakuru include Kabarak University which is located at Kabarak Plaza along Nakuru Eldama Ravine highway opposite National Oil Petrol Station.

KeMU is located at Mache Plaza 4th Floor in Nakuru town whereas Mount Kenya University Nakuru Campus is Resma Motors opposite Police Headquarters Oginga Odinga Road. 

On the other hand St Paul’s University is situated at Moi Road next to ACK Cathedral.

Depending on the course a student intends to pursue in these campuses, one is advised to visit their websites or the campuses so as to get more information.
