Nakuru residents have turned up in large numbers at the Nakuru Hospice Centre, located next to the Nakuru general hospital for early screening of breast, prostate, and cervical cancer.
Faraja Center, Africa cancer foundation and nakumatt supermarket have been running as spirited campaign on for Nakuru residents to turn up at the venue from 8am-4pm starting today and tommorow for the free screening, preventive measure in the fight against cancer.
Most of the residents who showed up in the chilly morning were women and children.
According to World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated one million-plus women worldwide are currently living with cervical cancer, and the majority of cervical cancer cases which accounts to 80% occur in low and middle-income countries.
WHO recommends screening as well as vaccination to be essential in the fight against cervical cancer.
In the meantime preparations are underway for tomorrows Nakuru's first lady, Margaret Kenyatta beyond zero Marathon.
