This has been one awkward January. Ordinarily, shorts and vests are the common clothing this season but not this year!
Trench coats, scarfs and marvins are the trend. Whoever did the planning job for Nakuru did a poor job. It is evident that he/she didn't account for the drainage.
This has been proved time and time again this rainy season. Kenyatta Avenue; this is the major street in Nakuru. It could even be described as the CBD.
As such, most businesses are located along this street. For such a busy street, you would expect it to be designed for any and all weather occurrences.
This is however far from it. After a heavy down pour, this street along with the pavements become flooded!
Pedestrians become stranded and are even forced to remove their shoes as they leap from dry patch to dry patch. This is the situation all over the town with some of the streets rendered impassable.
The county government, being responsible for such matters, should go back to the drawing board.
The government did set aside Sh3 billion for the El Nino rains and the unavoidable floods that come with it.
Our Governor Kinuthia Mbugua should put into good use this money, if it indeed it has received. It is really not that difficult.
Just hire civil engineers who will put modern drainage systems all over the town. It is not just the town that is affected.
The surrounding areas such as white house and Mawanga face the same problem too.
Dear Mr.Kinuthia Mbugua, please do something already! Vegas deserves better.
