The national government has been challenged to devolve infrastructures of schools to the county level to enhance development in education sector.
According to the Kisii County governor, James Ongwae, if given such a program of building infrastructures in school, it will enhance development of schools. Ongwae, who was speaking on Friday outside the county offices during the receiving of books that was donated by the Scope Foundation Incorporation with the Israel government said that his government is committed in aid of helping the education sector.
''We as the county government of Kisii we are devoted of making sure that the education sector in our county is well managed,'' said Governor Ongwae.
He said that the national government needs to devolve infrastructures of schools to the county level as one way of giving counties an opportunity of building schools to enhance smooth learning across the country. He added that his county has helped to build some structures even if they are not given money to do so since he cannot see students suffering without them taking the action.
''We have been helping some schools in terms of structures that is why we are urging the national government to let us use the program so that we can do more, " added Ongwae.
The county Of Kisii received sh100,000 books as they are going to be given to 32 school across the county and some libraries.
