Residents of Ngoingwa estate in Thika have appealed to the police to boost security surveillance in the area.

Speaking to this Hivisasa writer on Wednesday, the locals said that they are living in fear of being attacked by a gang which they allege is operating within the estate. The locals say that several cases of shops being broken into have been reported in the last 2 weeks.

“The county government should improve on the state of security and bring in more police to this area to curb rising criminal activities as we are currently living in fear,” said James Mungai, a resident whose shop was allegedly broken into by thugs on Monday 30th November.

He said that unknown people broke into his warehouse at Ngoingwa estate and stole property worth Kshs. 100, 000 on that Monday night.

Mungai added that the state of security in the area has been getting worse adding that despite the patrols made by the police cases of crime are still high. He wants the law enforcers to change their security tactics in order to deal with the criminal gangs.

The residents have now appealed to the area OCPD Erastus Muthamia to intervene and assure them of security especially during this festive season.

Speaking at a different function on Wednesday in Thika, Mr. Muthamia warned criminals causing havoc in the area that they will be caught. Muthamia further said that police were investigating several cases of crime reported by the residents.

The OCPD urged residents to share intelligence with the police to help them to curb crime in the area.

He also warned boda boda riders allegedly working with criminals saying that they will be dealt with accordingly.
