A legislature in Nakuru County has expressed confidence that the country is making the right steps in the fight against corruption, if what has been witnessed in the recent days is anything to by.
Addressing a news briefing in Nakuru on Wednesday after making a stopover in Dondori Ward, Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri asked all Kenyans to actively participate in fighting the vice saying the country’s leadership including the President himself had shown their commitment in taming graft.
He cited Tuesday’s Cabinet reshuffle as proof enough that President Uhuru Kenyatta was ready to crack the whip and steer the country to greater heights where corruption will not be tolerated.
"Time has come for all of us to walk the talk because corruption cannot be fought by mere words," he stated.
Ngunjiri also called on Governor Kinuthia Mbugua to follow suit and deal with any corrupt officer under the county ranks saying he will fully support him.
The parliamentarian called on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission regional office to lay the bar high in the county so as to ensure that corruption has no place in Nakuru.
Claims of corruption and misappropriation of funds in Nakuru has led to an outcry from the civil society which has held protests to the county headquarters demanding an explanation.
