Kiambu MP Jude Njomo has urged needy but bright students in the constituency to apply for bursary funds in order to advance their education.

Speaking in Kiambu town on Thursday, Njomo said needy students are being sponsored through the Constituency Development Fund.

He said hundreds of needy students have been sponsored through CDF adding that plans are underway to establish and education kitty for the constituency.

“Parents and guardians with needy but bright students should come forward and seek bursary funds so that the needy children an continue their education,” he said.

The Kiambu MP noted that the constituency has many needy but bright students who miss out on school for lacking school fees.

He said challenges such as poverty and unemployment can be addressed if children go to school.

The lawmaker urged the county government to establish a special bursary kitty for the needy but bright students.

Njomo said he is keen to boost education performance in the constituency.

He warned parents and guardians who deny their children access to education saying that they risk arrest. 

“No child should be denied education because the government has made primary education free and subsidized fees in secondary schools,” he said.

The MP also warned parents who deny their disabled children access to education saying that every child has a right to access education.
