South West Kisumu MCA Joseph Abiola has assured those who applied for bursary funds that there will be no favouritism.
Abiola said vetting of the applicants will commence on Wednesday this week.
He said priority will be given to total orphans, then partial orphans and students from poor families but with a good academic track record.
“I want to assure every student who applied for bursary that there will be no favouritism in this process,” he said.
Speaking in his ward on Monday, Abiola called upon head teachers in his ward to send away students for fees.
He said head teachers should give the bursary committee that is spearheading the process a little time. He also asked parents to make sure that they also pay some partial fees they had put aside to allow schools to run as they wait for bursary.
“Parents or guardians should know that bursary only supplements what they have to pay. Let them make an effort to pay school fees to help the school management,” he said.
The ward manager Charles Onyango told the applicant who will succeed to accept the little amount they will be offered. Onyango further asked those who will miss out that they will be considered in the next disbursement of the bursary funds.
He said the amount was meagre and could not be able to offer bursary to all the needy students in the ward.
“What we were allocated is too small to cater for all the needy cases. Those who will miss out should be rest assured that they will be considered next time,” he said.
