Nominated MCA Emma Mbugua has called on the society to respect the disabled, stating that it is not their wish to be disabled.
Mrs Mbugua who represents persons with disabilities in Nakuru County assembly said the disabled are like any other normal human being and people should stop seeing them as though they have no value.
Speaking during an exclusive interview, Mbugua said everybody is a potential candidate of disability because no one knows when calamity will strike.
"Most people living with disabilities were born normal and there never applied to be disabled but fate had its day in their lives and they found themselves disabled and therefore the society should not treat such people as outcasts,"said Mbugua.
"We must understand that as human beings we are potential candidates of disability and we can sleep and wake up being disabled,"she added. She called on PLWDS to be proud of who they are and stop feeling as if they are inferior beings.
