Residents of Nyambunwa village of Giasaiga sub location in Sameta sub county have been warned against venturing into clay soil excavation from dangerous quarries in the area during this heavy rains season.

Area clan elder Kasmir Maobe has banned all clay soil excavation activities in his area of jurisdiction until the heavy rains reported in the area subside.

Speaking to this writer on Friday morning, Maobe disclosed that he had taken the step of banning clay soil excavation in the area since majority of those tasked to do the excavation were children who could hardly detect when danger loomed during excavation.

Maobe said that it will be a serious tragedy if the local residents are left to venture into clay soil excavation in the dangerous quarries whose stability have already been compromised by the heavy rains reported in the area.

"As a local administration security agent, I have taken the initiative of ensuring that our people enjoy security from all angles and that is why I have banned all activities of clay soil excavation during this Christmas festive season when majority of the residents rush to the quarries in search of clay soil for smearing their earthen walled and floor houses in preparation for the Christmas season celebrations," said Maobe.
