More than 500 members associated to Nyamira boda boda welfare operators on Monday evening held elections to elect new leaders in spite of the wrangles.
According to some of the members, the election was nor fair and they wanted to ensure that the new officials who were elected are not sworn in office until the issue is solved.
Edwin Abuga, a member with the association added that the election process was not really open since not all members voted before time for voting was closed.
“We arrived at the polling station at around 2pm and yet election was to end at 3pm and we were still told that we were late,” he said.
He claimed that the organizing committee for the election was bribed to favor some candidates who they did not want.
Though the newly elected association chairman Alex Raini said that the election was fair enough and they are waiting for the existing officials to hand over to the newly elected officials.
He added that they are not going to tolerate any kind of politics in the association as their main agenda is to develop their members.
“The election was fare enough and the claims by those few who started to bring chaos have no basis and all we want is to ensure all members develop their members,” he added.
