Nyamira Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) members have been hailed for peaceful elections at the ward levels.

Party election board commissioner, Nyanza region, Peter Odoyo has asked the members to turn out in large numbers to elect their constituency leaders.

Odoyo said this on Monday when he was addressing the press in Nyamira town.

"The exercise went on well despite a few challenges, but we managed to contain them at last. All 20 wards have peacefully elected their leaders," confirmed the official.

He added: "I ask the members to turn out in large numbers on Tuesday when we will be electing party leaders at constituency level."

However, anomalies and dissatisfaction over the ongoing elections have been expressed in various parts of Kisii county.

In Nyaribari Chache constituency, two chairmanship aspirants; Jack Ontegi and Bernard Ogari have called for the cancellation of the elections citing irregularities.

In Bomachoge Chache constituency, the primaries were called off at the last minute on Sunday for undisclosed reasons.

The elections entered their second day on Tuesday.
