Nyamira parents have warned school heads against hiking school fee as form one students prepare to report to school in a week's time.

This comes after the ministry of education implemented Dr Kilemi Mwiria report that recommended school fee payment that recommends national schools to charge Sh38,000, while district schools charge Sh10,000 per year.

Speaking on Tuesday at Nyamira town, the parents, led by Kenya Parents Union Nyamira branch chairman Vincent Mbura urged the ministry of education to be vigilant and take stiff actions against teachers who intended to violate the order.

“We want to thank the ministry of education by reliving parents by calling for implementation of the fee structure as recommended by Dr Mwiria. What is important now is to ensure head teachers adhere to the guidelines as set by the ministry by stopping exploitation of parents which they have done for years,” he said.

They were unanimous that any head teacher who will be found culpable of violating the order will be forced to quit from the respective institutions and face the full force of the law, failure to which parents will go to their streets.

“The ministry should be vigilant and take actions against those who still believe they can solicit extra cash from students. We will ensure they quit failure to which we will go to streets and demand for their resignation,” added Mbura.

Mbura urged parents across the county to ensure they reported to the ministry cases of school heads asking for extra cash as a way of ensuring education is affordable to all as intended by the government.
