Nyamira county governor John Nyagarama on Thursday flagged off a 4 day exercise aimed at giving mosquito nets to the people of Nyamira county with regards to the heavy rains that have hit a better part of the country.
The 491,657 mosquito nets were given to the county by the national government in collaboration with the Population Service Organization (PSO) to help an estimated number of about 876,680 people across the county of Nyamira from contracting malaria during this rainy season.
Governor Nyagarama also called on the medical department and health officers across the county to ensure that they give 1 mosquito net to 2 people.
"We are going to give out more than 450, 000 mosquito nets to Nyamira residents,” he said.
He asked the people that had earlier on registered themselves for the same to go for the nets at their places of registration.
