Nyamira South sub county have recorded success in the recently completed immunization against polio that was carried out in the area.
According to the area sub county medical assistant officer Dr. Irene Monyenye, at least 35, 000 children in the sub county were immunized against polio in the just concluded campaign that was carried last year in December.
She attributed the achievements to the extensive mobilization that was carried out in churches and good work that was well coordinated by the health workers in the area.
“We had targeted 30, 000 children during the campaign, but we were able to immunize 2, 464 more in the exercise that was carried from house to house in the sub county in December last year," said Dr. Irene
She revealed that 76 health workers, 61 volunteers and 17 supervisors were involved in the campaign that was carried between December 14 and 18, 2015.
She was speaking at a health break first that was held in a Nyamira hotel this morning.
