Women drawn from Nyamira county have called upon both the county and national government to ensure that they implement fully the gender rule that will see women and youth get more opportunities in the government.
Addressing the press in Nyamira town, Kenya Women Grassroots Empowerment executive member Jane Bwari said that in the past there has been a discrimination on women in terms of gender and there is a need for the elected leaders to ensure that women get empowered and get recognised in the society.
“When we seek for tenders getting them is quite difficult yet we all know that there is a percentage set aside for us and we need the officials especially the county government to ensure that we get our rightful share,” said Bwari.
She added that women are currently facing a lot of challenges and the only way to overcome that is to ensure that the gender rule is fully implemented.
She called upon other women to ensure that they get to know all their right and step up to apply for the government tenders set aside for them.
