Nyamira County Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) election results have been cancelled over rigging claims.

The party's commission representing the electoral board, Peter Odoyo, on Thursday announced the cancellation of the results, citing massive irregularities.

Odoyo said the official who presided over the election flouted the party rules.

He said Dr Evans Kerandi was the eligible officer to oversee the election exercise whom he said had the genuine list of delegates.

“There were irregularities in the Nyamira County party grassroots elections,” he said.

“Alfred Ndubi did not have the genuine list of delegates. It's Kerandi who had the mandate to man the exercise in the county. For that matter, we have resolved to cancel the whole exercise in the county till we give further information," said Odoyo.

Kerandi had been arrested after allegedly colluding with one side to rig the votes.
