Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth has complained over poor sanitation as mounds of garbage pile up in the area.

Okoth took to social media -both his Facebook and twitter accounts - to express his disappointment.

On Friday last week, the legislator posted a photo on his twitter account showing garbage overflowing from the National Youth Service garbage containers onto the roads.

"Kibra drowning in garbage and health risks," wrote Okoth in his post.

Okoth seems to be sending the message to Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero, his deputy Jonathan Mueke as well as the national government to act quickly on the situation.

Kibera is one of the areas that benefited from the NYS slum upgrading programme in conjunction with the Ministry of Devolution.

The NYS worked together with area youths.

The situation has prompted residents to appeal to the national government to revive the project.

Already, plans are underway to enlsit youth for the programme.
