Kisumu West MP Olago Aluoch has called for close working relationship between the National Assembly and the county assemblies.

Olago said elected leaders should work together to address some of the challenges affecting smooth running of devolution.

He said certain issues need common approach among the elected leaders and cited the case of Transition Authority whose term is coming to an end.

The MP said elected leaders should not work in isolation in their respective houses but find means of collaboration.

“The national assembly, the Senate and the county assemblies have been working independently and that is not helping the locals. We must work together as a team,” he said.

Olago who was addressing the County Assembly of Kisumu on Thursday for the first time during the plenary session said Kenyans will gain tremendously if there are proper consultations among elected leaders.

Olago further called for the county governments not to overlook the work of the county assemblies.

He said the county assemblies are superior to the county governments and the latter should not insubordinate the former.

“I have observed that the county government of Kisumu is overlooking the county assembly. That should not be the case, they must realize that the assemblies is superior to the county governments,” he said.
