Kisii County governor James Ongwae has faulted politicians for inciting contractors against the county government.

This comes after contractors demonstrated in Kisii town on Thursday lamenting delay in payment by the county government for work done in 2013/2014 and 2014/2015.

Speaking on Thursday in his office, governor Ongwae blamed politicians for inciting the contractors and challenged them to set aside their 2017 political ambitions and give him time to serve the people.

The contractors led by Kisii County Contractors Association Secretary Mr James Ondari claimed the county government owes them money amounting to Sh2.4 billion.

Governor Ongwae however said his government had already paid contractors who worked for his government.

“When you demand your money use the right channels, don't accept to be incited by politicians to demonstrate,” said the governor.

He added: “those politicians who incite people including contractors, leave politics out of this matter until 2017 when we shall met at the ballot”.
