Kamwangi motorists have been urged to observe traffic rules during this festive season in order to avert accidents and save lives. The motorists who toured Kamwangi traffic department headquarters for a vehicle checkup were also warned against driving on the roads without licenses and uniforms.
Speaking at the station, the area deputy traffic commandant Moses Mwanu noted that motorists have to stick to the road set rules. Mwau who had ordered for the checkup last week after nabbing 5 vehicles over breaking traffic rules said that his office is ready to curb deaths brought about by reckless drivers.
"I am grateful that many vehicles followed my directive and came for the checkup. There are however many motorists who think that our roads are a playground. My department will partner with all road stake holders to ensure that we save innocent lives," he said.
Mwau observed that few conductors in the area operate with uniforms and urged them to either purchase the uniforms or face the law. He noted that many of the inspected vehicles had no speed governors citing that drivers were over speeding to make many rounds in the name of more profits.
He reminded the motorist to remember that they hold the lives of many in their hands when on the roads and therefore urged them to take caution while driving.
The inspection that started at 6:30am on the morning of 7th December and saw 107 vehicles inspected.
"We have so far inspected 107 vehicles which we found either had no speed governors, licenses, some were wreckages and others had minor damages. We have registered all the number plates and also issued a directive for the drivers to correct the issues detected with regards to their vehicles," he said.
