Parents and guardians in Gatundu North sub county have been asked to make early application for birth certificates for their children in time for the national exams next year.
Speaking from Kamwangi town on Monday, the Gatundu North sub county deputy civil registrar John Karuel said that the fact that every candidate is required to produce a birth certificate before registering for national examinations was now a challenge.
Karue disclosed that he had already dispatched letters to churches and chiefs offices to request them to sensitise residents on the importance of early acquisition of the certificates.
"It has not been possible for my office to conduct mobile registrations in schools due to the lack of logistics," he said.
"I am requesting parents and children guardians whose children are prospecting to sit for their national exams next year to rush now that we have minimal jobs and apply for the crucial document, the last minute rush creates confusion and leaves many parents complaining," he added.
Karue noted that head teachers have registration forms which parents and guardians can fill and later return to his Kamwangi office for processing of the certificates.
"I don't want any candidate to be locked out of exam room due to the lack of a birth certificate which is one of the major requirements," he said.
