Leaders in West Pokot and Turkana counties have been urged to embrace dialogue as means of promoting peace and solving the perennial conflicts between them.

Speaking on Wednesday during the third day of the consultative and training forum for senior officials from the two counties in Eldoret, Turkana County secretary Peter Eripete said dialogue is the way to go for peaceful coexistence in the region.

"We have a programme that will put on board all political leaders from the war torn areas to discuss how peace and tranquility can be embraced without fighting," he said.

He said animosity between the two communities has always been fueled by politicians for their own gains.

"We want to change Turkana and West Pokot from a region that is always experiencing cross border conflicts to one that embraces peace and coexistence to enhance development," he added.
