Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Hassan Abdi has blamed police and chiefs for the increased sale of second generation liquor.
Speaking in his office on Monday, Abdi said police and chiefs collude with people selling the illegal liquor after bribing them.
"I have received reports from the public that there are some police officers who shield businessmen/women that sale illegal alcoholic drinks after giving them bribes for them to continue with their business,"he said.
Hassan said such officers will be arrested and prosecuted for flouting work ethics.
"I give a stern warning to police and chiefs who are fond of hiding illegal brewers that their days are numbered and they will be arrested and brought to book," he said.
The commissioner said he is determined to ensure Uasin Gishu County is free from illicit liquor.
"The fight against the second generation alcohol is still on until every one in the county is sober. Eighty per cent of Uasin Gishu County is free from illicit brews," he said.
He urged residents to report any police officer who is sabotaging the fight against second generation alcohol by not arresting suspects involved and promised to take stern action against them.
