A middle-aged woman is recuperating at the Rift Valley General hospital after he was seriously beaten by her husband at a residential estate in Kaptembwo who accused him of ‘being too demanding’ this Christmas season.
According to neighbours who witnessed the drama, James Ng’ang’a came home on Tuesday afternoon and an argument ensued between him and his wife Betty Akinyi.
They said that the young couple had recently moved to the estate after Ng’ang’a lost his job in Nyahururu.
Residents accused the wife of being too materialistic.
“The problem with our young girls from well-off families always want to bring their expensive lifestyles in their marriages not knowing marriage life has its own challenges. In this case, not that I am supporting the act but everybody can bear witness with me that Akinyi provoked the husband into doing what he did,” offered Mama Justin, a neighbour.
“Ng’ang’a has on several occasions threatened to do something bad but we always tried to calm him down, the problem is his wife, I think she was too young for marriage," she added.
Confirming the incident, Kaptembwo OCS Patrick Makau said they have launched a manhunt for Ng’ang’a who is on the run.
“If you analyse this scenario, the crime was as a result of failure to resolving past domestic differences, our people should know that taking the law in your hands is a crime,” Makau said.
Makau further called on the residents to embrace Nyumba Kumi saying that it had proved to be a better security option especially at the local level where a majority of unnoticed crime go unreported.
