Four private vehicles have been nabbed in a police crackdown operating as public vehicles in Kamwangi town. The vehicles which include two saloon cars, a probox and a wish were nabbed at Kagiti area where police had placed a block.

Speaking at the scene, the sub-county deputy OCPD Moses Mwau noted that they would not give room to private vehicles to operate as public vehicles citing that excess carriage of passengers was risky and would not be allowed.

Mwau revealed that the six vehicles were fined Kshs. 20, 000 each instantly and were then released.

"We have arrested and fined four private vehicles which were operating as public vehicles. The drivers disclosed that they were carrying family members although most of the family member’s identity cards were not collaborating with that of drivers with regards to his last name," he said.

He further warned drivers to avoid overspeeding citing that NTSA had offered speed checking gargets that will detect the speed of vehicles operating in the area.

Mwau on another note said that the Wednesday night accident between a lorry, a motor bike and a small car at Munyaka road only injured five as opposed to the information given by the eye witnesses.
