Police in Bethlehem, Theta ward of Ruiru sub county Wednesday morning retrieved the body of a middle-aged woman allegedly murdered last night and dumped in a bush in the area.
The naked and mutilated body of the lady, a mother of two, was found by her children who were playing around the area at around 7am.
The children later informed the parents who upon counter-checking informed the area chief Paul Kinyanjui and he called the police in Ruiru.
According to the residents, the deceased was last seen Monday morning and is said to have been travelling to Kiambu town which is her home area.
They said that her husband works in Nakuru and comes every weekend including last weekend.
Area chief said that the area has not had such an incident for a long time now and that the insecurity cases had gone down since the increased security meetings with the members of public were initiated.
The woman, who lay on a pool of blood had deep cuts on the neck and arms and was tied on a tree with her clothes being some meters away from the area.
Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira said the woman seemed to have struggled before she was murdered.
He said that police have launched investigations into the incident.
The residents are now calling on police to increase night patrols by during the festive period.
