Deputy President William Ruto has urged political parties to form one umbrella body for their own benefit.

Ruto said, that all political parties allied to Jubilee have agreed to form one party which will serve as a platform to unite all communities and to fight for developments.

He said most of the political parties are formed based on the tribe rather than on ideas, something that kills development in the country. The deputy president said he feels the era of tribunal parties has ended. He spoke this at the Gusii Stadium.

The utterances have been strongly opposed by Kibera people saying the constitution allows for the tribunals and it is not out dated.

Juma Nassir says tribunal parties are never formed based on tribes. He said they are formed depending on the relationships of people but never on tribal grounds.

Shila Ongeri says Ruto has fear because tribunal parties work easily and are easier to coordinate. She says if the constitution is not against the tribunals then he should not advise people against it.
