South Rift regional commissioner Wanyama Musiambo said Tuesday they will not allow such politicians to create unnecessary tension in the county by reviving and aiding criminal gangs ahead of the 2017 general election.

He added that they had received reports of politicians who are keen on using criminal gangs to terrorise opponents, and warned that the police were on the look out to arrest them.

At the same time Musiambo challenged the leaders to be in the forefront in preaching peace in the county, adding that as people's representatives, they owed it upon themselves and their subjects to ensure tranquility.

He added that the county needs harmonious coexistence noting that negative campaigns were a big threat to its  cosmopolitan composition.

His remarks come barely a week after a wave of insecurity characterised by gang rivalry hit Flamingo, Kivumbini and Rhonda estates in Nakuru town, which locals have attributed to political activities.
